Description

Omnia El Omrani is a final-year MBBCh medical student at Ain Shams University in Egypt. She has more than 6 years of experience in global health and student advocacy. She has been particularly involved in planetary health, climate change and non-communicable diseases. She has attended 3 United Nations Climate Change Conferences, representing medical students worldwide in the International Federation of Medical Students’ Association (IFMSA). She is currently an associate at Women Leaders for Planetary Health and a member of the United Nations Children’s Fund Youth Leaders Program and the Global Youth Coalition for Road Safety. She has also worked on multiple advocacy and research initiatives with the World Health Organization, the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change, and the Global Climate and Health Alliance. She led 9 working groups and panels of students formulating a diversity of evidence-based policy-documents, training modules, and research publications, including a global survey that spanned 117 countries and assessed the gap between planetary health and its integration in the medical curriculum. She has facilitated over 74 hours of capacity building workshops and training sessions in 15 countries and has a range of experiences with IFMSA as the Public Health Regional Assistant for the Eastern-Mediterranean Region and National Public Health Officer in Egypt.
