Where and when

The Conference will take place on 7-9 June 2022 in the city of Sønderborg, Denmark.

Invited attendees will receive a link to register using the IEA’s Conference platform.

Below we provide information on travel and hotel booking. Further logistical information is available on the partner Energy Efficiency Solutions Forum website.

Managing Covid-19

The Global Conference will adhere to Danish guidelines on managing Covid-19 risk. Attendees will not need a vaccination certificate, a RT-PCR Test nor an Antigen Test to enter Denmark. Masks will not be mandatory in closed spaces nor outside spaces, but attendees are welcome to use them. Attendees are also encouraged to follow general behaviour guidelines such as barrier gestures and frequent hand washing. Voluntary, free COVID-19 lateral flow/rapid self-tests will be made available to attendees wishing to use them. To facilitate attendees’ return to their home countries, medical professionals will be available in the Alsik Hotel, room Business corner to carry out an RT-PCR Test or Antigen Test on the following days:

Tuesday 7 June: 17:00 to 18:30

Wednesday 8 June: 7:30 to 9:00 and 12:30 to 14:00

Thursday 9 June 7:00 to 8:30 and 14:00 to 16:00

Please note that PCR test results can take up to 24 hours to arrive.

Travelling to Sønderborg

We look forward to welcoming you in Sønderborg. Sønderborg is easily accessible by road, rail, and air and we are determined to make your journey to and stay in Sønderborg as convenient and pleasant as possible.

Arriving by air

Copenhagen has several daily flights directly to Sønderborg airport. Flight time is 35 minutes and Sønderborg airport is located just 10 minutes from the centre of Sønderborg and the conference locations. Confirmed conference attendees can redeem a code for a discount of EUR 100 for each leg of this flight.

Billund, Denmark has multiple daily flights to all of Europe and is only 1½ hours by car from Sønderborg.

Hamburg, Germany has multiple daily flights to all of Europe and is only 2 hours by car and 2½ hours by bus from Sønderborg.

Arriving by train

Sønderborg has a centrally placed train station in walking distance from the conference venue and served by both express and regional trains.

Staying in Sønderborg

The Global Conference has reserved rooms in several hotels across Sønderborg, including at Hotel Alsik, a main Conference venue. Participants and speakers should make their arrangements using this block booking.
