Description

Akash Goenka is a clean energy transition professional who keenly understands global energy efficiency policies and their interplay with climate change. His domain expertise is in climate-friendly cooling and building sector energy efficiency. He supported the establishment of AEEE’s Data Analytics & Modelling team. Through influential benchmarking studies for hospitals and airports, Akash has pushed the envelope in creating a more systematic approach to primary data collection and reporting. Akash’s current engagements are consolidated around data-driven enterprise energy management, demand-side energy modelling, data disclosure policies, building performance standards, and performance-based building code implementation. Previously, Akash co-developed the pioneering India Cooling Action Plan 2019 - his contributions included data analysis, aggregating the analysis, goals, and recommendations into a cohesive plan, and coordinating with steering and inter-ministerial committee members. He was instrumental in producing a holistic methodology for creating national cooling action plans utilised by many Global South countries to create cooling action plans. Akash is a mechanical engineer from VIT University, Vellore, with a master’s degree in sustainable energy futures from Imperial College London.
