Description
Silvia is an accomplished architect with a master’s degree in Natural Resources Management from the Instituto Tecnológico de Costa Rica. With over 15 years of experience in the construction market, she has honed her expertise across various countries in Latin America.
Since joining the International Finance Corporation (IFC) in 2019, the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, as the Regional Program Lead based in Colombia, has been instrumental in leading the Green Building Market Transformation Program (GBMTP) in Latin America.
In her role, she is responsible for strategizing and implementing the GBMTP across the region and in focus countries, including Colombia, Mexico, Peru, and Brazil. With extensive experience in green buildings and EDGE certification, she plays a key role in engaging with diverse stakeholders such as private sector developers, industry associations, financial institutions, and government agencies at both national and subnational levels, as well as international cooperation agencies.
As a regional expert, she leads the regional team dedicated to developing capabilities across sectors to expand green building investments, offering technical advice to the construction market and supporting IFC's clients. Her focus on decarbonizing the built environment and promoting the expansion of green and resilient buildings underscores her commitment to sustainable development.
