Deputy Director
Description
Marcela is a co-founder and Deputy Director at CMS. She oversees all research and policy work focused on the promotion of clean vehicle technologies. Previous to co-founding CMS, she was a senior researcher at CMM Chile where she specializes in sustainable transport policy and modeling. Her experience has been concentrated on the study and resolution of problems related to the control of pollutant emissions for light and heavy-duty vehicles, particularly in urban buses. She has led the development of sustainable transportation policies in Latin American and Caribbean countries, in collaboration with local ministries, international research centers, and governmental and non-governmental organizations. This includes the first testing protocol for urban buses in the region (TS-STGO for Santiago). She has also developed emission inventories for transport fleets across the region and has most recently led energy consumption modeling and simulations for electric fleet operations. Marcela holds a degree in Environmental Sciences with a specialization in Atmospheric Chemistry from the Universidad de Chile and a Master's in Mobility Engineering from the Politecnico di Milano.
