Description

Eng. Salim Al Aufi has a Masters degree in Petroleum Engineering from Heriot-Watt University. He Joined Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) in 1992, and progressed within the organization in different technical and leadership roles, which culminated in him becoming the Oil North Director in 2010. This Board level position is responsible for all operations of Oil North Asset of PDO. In his career spanning well over 28 years, Al Aufi held different local and international positions, including PDO’s Head of Corporate Planning, Chief Petroleum Engineering and Operations Manager. During his tenure in PDO, Al Aufi was posted to Shell Nigeria as Petroleum Engineer and Asset Planner, and to Shell Canada as the Vice President of Production. In May 2012, His Majesty appointed Salim Al Aufi as the Chief Executive Officer of the Public Authority for Civil Aviation, and in December 2013 he was appointed as the Undersecretary for the Ministry of Oil & Gas (now Ministry of Energy and Minerals) until mid of June 2022. In June 2022, H.E. Salim Al Aufi was appointed as the Minister of Energy and Minerals, Al Aufi’s portfolio includes Exploration and Production of hydrocarbons, Electricity and Mining Regulatory responsibilities, Renewables and Hydrogen in the Sultanate of Oman.
