Description

Margalita Arabidze is Head of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Policy and Sustainable Development Department at Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development (MoESD) and associate professor at Georgian Technical University with more than 20 years of experience working in the energy sector. Together with her department she is currently working on EE and RE secondary legislation, National Energy Policy, Integrated National Energy and Climate Plan 2021-2030 (NECP), SDG 7 and on other important issues. She has very close cooperation with local and international donors, investors, IFIs and international organizations. She is focal person for Georgia in IRENA, EnC (Chair of RE Coordination Group), UNECE (vice-chair of EE, RE Working Group), IAEA and other. During previous years she worked on different positions at MoESD, Ministry of Energy and GTU. With supervision of her department important laws and action plans were developed and adopted in late 2019 and mid-2020, such as RE, EE and EPB laws, also NREAP and NEEAP for 2019-2020. Ms. Arabidze is author for a number of publications and textbooks on issues such as, energy complexes, energy efficiency, renewable energy and climate change in the energy sector.
