Description
Mr. Rashid Abdallah has served as Executive Director of the African Energy Commission (AFREC) since November 2018. Under his leadership, the AFREC has gone through first comprehensive transformation its inception in 2008. After taking office, AFREC has expand its efforts in supporting African Member States to transform African energy sector by leading initiatives to ensure energy security, expand renewable energies, enhance energy efficiency, modernize African bioenergy, support energy transition and transform Africa to clean cooking services among others.
Mr. Abdallah took up his position after rising through the ranks of the African Union Commission in the last 12 years. He joined as Principle policy officer and rose to the position of Head of Energy Division before became Director of AFREC.
