Eng. Peter Njenga is the Managing Director and CEO of KenGen, renowned for its 86% reliance on renewable energy. His tenure began on August 21, 2023, marking over three decades of impactful service in the energy sector. A graduate of the University of Nairobi, he holds a Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering and an MBA in Strategic Management3. His professional journey includes a significant stint as General Manager at KPLC before ascending to KenGen’s helm. Eng. Njenga is a registered engineer with advanced training from Strathmore University and Harvard Business School. His leadership is characterized by a commitment to excellence, strategic insight, and ethical governance. He champions sustainable energy and climate action initiatives, such as tree planting. Outside work, he is a family man, devout Christian, and enjoys cycling and swimming.
